GUWAHATI: The brand-new semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express which will run between New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati starts its trial on May 20, 2023. The train identified by its numbers Up-22227 and Down-22228 will cover 410 km within 6 hours.
According to the report, The Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express train is likely to be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi which will run six days in a week.
Assam will be connected to West Bengal with the 17th Vande Bharat Express. After the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express and the NJP-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, this will be the third Vande Bharat Express to run in West Bengal. On a test run from New Jalpaiguri on Sunday, the semi-high-speed train arrived in Guwahati for the first time. One executive coach will be included in the eight-coach train.
Taking on twitter, the official Northeast Frontier Railway wrote, “#VandeBharatExpress the symbol of rail travel with Speed and latest amenities reached Guwahati railway station, the Gateway of the Northeast for the first time during a trial run conducted today from New Jalpaiguri.”

An indigenously produced, semi-high-speed, self-propelled train set is called the Vande Bharat Express. Modern passenger amenities on board the train make for a speedier, more comfortable, and more convenient journey for passengers. It was initially produced at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai under the name Train 18.
