Guwahati: Bollywood diva and brand ambassador of Assam tourism Priyanka Chopra’s first Sikkimese production PahunaThe Little Visitors is all set to hit the theatre’s on December 7.

The film revolves around three children bonding together and making a new home for themselves after being separated from their parents while fleeing Nepal during an unrest.

Revealing the news about the release of the film over her twitter handle, Priyanka wrote "The wait is finally over... 'Pahuna - The Little Visitors' releases in theatres across India on 7th Dec 2018. This is a very special film and I can't wait to share it with you all. She also posted the poster of the movie alongside her tweet.

Pahuna, directed by Paakhi A Tyrewala has been produced under the banner of Purple Pebble Pictures owned by Priyanka and her mother Madhu Chopra and co-produced by Children’s Film Society, India (CFSI),.

Last month, 'Pahuna' was adjudged Best Film (Jury Choice) and Special Mention by Professional Jury in The International Feature Film Category at SCHLINGEL International Children's Film Festival in Germany.

The first look of the film was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year. Madhu Chopra said in a statement, “This film is very special because it addresses the far-reaching consequences for children when adults make harsh decisions. Also, this story is relevant globally in its appeal.”

Explaining the film’s ethos, director Tyrewala said, “We live in a tough world. Sometimes it’s easier to just give up. Hope is what we all need. Like one of the characters in the film says, ‘It’s never all dark, there is always light’. Pahuna is full of hopes. That is the reason it resonated with audiences young and old across the globe and now it’s releasing in the country it was made and meant for.”

The movie garnered a good response at the world premiere of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, followed by a special screening at Indian Kaleidoscope Film Festival in New York, reports The Quint.

It may be mentioned that Priyanka who had always known to have a fondness for the North East had earlier co-produced the Assamese movie “Bhoga Khiriki” directed by National Award winner acclaimed film director Jahnu Baruah. The film was released in theatres on 26th of last month.

In 2016, the Purple Pebble Pictures produced the critically acclaimed comedy-drama Ventilator, which won three National Film Awards.
