GANGTOK: Police in Sikkim’s Gangtok city arrested a man hailing from Bihar for the alleged rape and murder of an 11-year-old minor girl.
The man identified as Pritam Dharma (29), hailing from Bihar, was arrested by the Sikkim police in Gangtok
On April 14, the body of the victim minor girl was recovered, three days after she was reported to be missing.

According to sources, the accused had allegedly offered the minor victim a lift in his car while she was returning home from school
After some time, he stopped to refill his car tank at a fuel station, where he also bought the girl snacks and juice.
Then he reportedly took her to a nearby forest, where he allegedly raped the minor girl. Fearing police action if the raped girl lodged a complaint, Dharma- the accused man from Bihar- strangled the minor girl to death with her school tie.
After his arrest, the accused has been booked by the Sikkim police under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO act, as the victim girl is a minor.
In February last year, a 32-year-old man who allegedly killed his girlfriend in a hotel in Gangtok was arrested by the Sikkim Police from Bihar’s Chapra district.
The arrested accused person has been identified as Gyaneshwar Singh, a resident of Chapra in Bihar.
Singh, who was arrested with the support of Bihar police, is accused of murdering his 26-year-old girlfriend and had been absconding since December.
According to a police official, on December 27, 2021, Singh came to Gangtok along with his girlfriend and checked into a hotel.
After staying one night, he had a quarrel with his girlfriend over his alleged affair with someone else.
The next day, the quarrel turned into a fight and he allegedly kicked his girlfriend in the abdomen.
Police sources informed that the fight took place on December 29 and both had gone to sleep after the fight. However, the next morning, after waking up, he found his girlfriend lying dead next to him.
Appalled at this, he ran away and had been absconding till his arrest from Bihar in February last year.
