Teesta Car clash in Sikkim Claims 1 life, 4 Missing

One person was killed and four others have gone missing after a car plunged into Teesta River from NH10 at Likhubhir near Teesta bazaar under Kalimpong district.
The mishap took place when the Sikkim registered car carrying four members of the same family was going towards Dooars from Sikkim early Friday morning.
Kalimpong Police said the mishap came to light when some of the people saw the body of one of the passengers ShakshiRai (13) floating on the river. After receiving information, the Kalimpong police and TeestaRangit Rafting Relief Team reached the spot and launched a search operation. Divers and rafters made several attempts to trace the other four missing persons including the driver Devdutt Tamang. Apart from ShakshiRai, other family members traveling in the fateful car were ChandanRai, TulsiRai and SargamRai. They continued to remain untraced till evening.
Kalimpong police station in-charge Abindo Bhattacharya said an NDRF team will reach the spot and start work from Saturday morning.
