Tripura, Meghalaya, and Tripura are celebrating their Statehood Day today as, on January 21, 1972, the three states became full-fledged states under the North Eastern Region (Reorganization) Act of 1971. Honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi along with various prestigious ministers is sending tweets of greetings and wishes to the citizens of the three states on their foundation day. PM Modi addressed the Manipur people as the" powerhouse of innovation and sporting talent."
To the people of Tripura, he said "The culture and warm-hearted nature of the people of Tripura are admired across India".
While to Meghalaya he greets, "is known for its remarkable kindness and spirit of brotherhood..."
Honourable President of India, Ram Nath Kovind also tweeted his greeting saying, "Greetings to the wonderful people of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura...Blessed with immense natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture, these states are fascinating..."
Other ministers also greeted on Tweeter on this day to the three states. Biplab Kumar Deb, the Chief Minister of Tripura tweeted a video message greeting the people.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma marked Statehood Day and honoured the great leader who helped in carving out the path for the creation of Meghalaya.

North East India is formed with seven states which are known as "Seven Sisters" namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura. On 21 January 1972, the states of Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya became full-fledged states under the North Eastern Region (Re-organization) Act, 1971. The princely states of Tripura and Manipur were merged with India in October 1949 and were granted the status of Union Territories. Finally, in 1972, Tripura, Meghalaya was granted full statehood by the North East Reorganization Act of 1972.
