Agartala: On Sunday afternoon, an 18-year-old girl from Dharmanagar in North Tripura district allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train.
According to reports, the girl who died leaped in front of the Silchar - Agartala passenger train, which departed Dharmanagar railway station about 12.30 p.m.
According to sources, the deceased girl lived in the Dharmanagar sub-Lalchhara division's Gram Panchayat. The deceased's father and mother were overcome with emotion after the occurrence. The parents stated to the media that they had no quarrels or problems with anyone in their home.
Her bereaved parents are baffled as to why she took her own life. After identifying the deceased, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) took them to the North District Hospital in Dharmanagar for autopsy.
In a similar incident, in July 17th 2021, the body of an unnamed lady was discovered on a railway track near the Asomiya Pratidin-Sadin building in Guwahati's Chandmari region. As according witnesses at the scene of the event, a woman in her mid-30s leaped in front of a moving train, believing it was a suicide attempt. She was struck by a moving train approaching from the Chandmari direction.

In the general population, the single most important risk factor for suicide is a previous suicide attempt. Suicide is the fourth highest cause of mortality among teenagers aged 15 to 19. Low- and middle-income nations account for 77% of worldwide suicides. Pesticide ingestion, hanging, and weapons are among the most popular ways to commit suicide in the world.
