AGARTALA: A lot of speculations arose from the political circles across the country when the chief of a new political party decided to take the crowdfunding way. The main competitor ahead of them is the richest political party in the world, the Bharatiya Janata Party. But with the election campaign coming to an end on Tuesday, it looks like the member of the Tripura royal family knew exactly what he was against and achieved his campaigning goals.
The overwhelming support towards the ideologies of the local party was visible from the fact that several people from across the state donated towards the account of the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance commonly called the TIPRA Motha. And these funds made for the polling campaigns of the 42 candidates backed by the party.
One such example was the donation of the pocket money of a six-year-old from her piggy bank on her birthday. The girl follows the steps of her father, Benjamin Debbarma who belongs to the Chengkharu Kami region of Belbari of West Tripura and also donated towards the election fund of the TIPRA Motha. The chief of the party Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma personally accepted this donation from the girls and thanked her for the same. Apparently, she was taken aback after getting to know about the conditions of the elders in the villages and wanted to donate towards the betterment of their conditions.
The party was being floated with the aim of establishing the “Greater Tipraland” and fighting with the same ideology in mind in the upcoming elections. The party has decided to launch a total of 42 candidates out of which 20 are for the seats reserved for tribal candidates of the state.
While several national leaders campaigned in Tripura over the last week for the local Bharatiya Janata Party candidates, the TIPRA Motha chief campaigned for his candidates without directly appearing as a candidate.
