BJP Mahila Morcha Sets 1.5 lakh-Member Target in Tripura

Agartala: The BJP Mahila Morcha has launched a massive program to enroll one lakh fifty thousand members by organizing enrolment camps in different parts of the State.

Newly-elected MP Pratima Bhaumik, who is also the general secretary of the BJP State committee, is leading the campaign and said women will play a vital role in making Tripura one of the best states in the country.

Addressing a meeting at Agartala Town Hall, she said that a pollution-free society is the pre-condition for making a State stride forward and here women should take the lead role. He urged the women to say no to plastic made utensils and to encourage people to use pollution-free materials.

The Mahila Morcha distributed some machinery that helps in making earthen utensils. Bhaumik said people become dependent on plastic items as there is no alternative and urged all to be habituated in using earthen utensils.

She urged the women to form co-operatives and to start making earthen or other pollution-free utensils. “It will ensure pollution-free society as well as create employment opportunity”, she said.

Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, chief whip of the State Assembly Kalyani Roy, president of the State Mahila Morcha Papia Datta and many others were present in the meeting. Apart from Agartala, special membership camps were organized in other parts of the State on Sunday where a large number of women enrolled their name as a member of the Mahila Morcha.
