BJP To Conduct "Rath Yatra" Before Tripura Assembly Elections

AGARTALA: As the saffron party prepares for the Assembly elections scheduled for early in the next year, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura will organise a "rath yatra" across the State beginning on January 1, 2022, a party senior announced on Monday, December 26, 2022.

According to him, a three-person committee led by the Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury has been established to supervise the yatra's preparations. The 60-member Tripura Assembly will be chosen in a February election.

Sunit Sarkar, the BJP's media coordinator, stated that one yatra would leave from the North Tripura district and the other from the South Tripura district. Subarta Chakraborty, the party's principal spokeswoman, stated that the purpose of the yatra is to enlist public support prior to the election.

In order to express their support for the party that has taken care of their fundamental necessities, he stated, "We do believe that people will join the 'rath yatra'."

According to party sources, a political party would for the first time hold such a yatra in the northeastern state before an election. A number of Union Ministers led the BJP's numerous road shows during the 2018 assembly elections. Meanwhile, the saffron party's massive outreach initiative, known as "Prati Ghare Shushan," came to an end on Sunday.

In order to assess the party's readiness for the assembly election, BJP national general secretary B.L. Santosh, who is in the State that is going to the polls, convened the election management committee meeting on Sunday night.

According to the sources, the conference was attended by senior party leaders. Several Union ministers led road shows the BJP organised during the 2018 assembly elections. The massive outreach effort of the saffron party, known as "Prati Ghare Shushan," was completed on Sunday.
