BSF Arrests Bangladeshi Teen For Illegally Entering India To Buy Chocolate

AGARTALA: The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested a teenage Bangladeshi national who illegally entered India just to buy chocolates.

The Bangladeshi teen was arrested by security forces from the Sipahijala area which is in Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.

The apprehended teen has been identified as Eman Hossain, a resident of a small village in the Comilla district of Bangladesh.

As per reports, the Bangladeshi teen boy entered India by swimming the Shalda River that flows over the International boundary of India and Bangladesh.

Eman swam through the river and reached Agartala to purchase his favourite Indian chocolate from a shop in Kalamchoura village of India.

However, this is not the first that Eman illegally entered India, earlier he used to swim across the Shalda River and entered the region through a hole in the nabbed wire fencing.

He used to buy chocolates and return home in the same process without getting caught.

He was finally caught on Wednesday 13 April by the border security forces who handed him over to the local police officials.

He then underwent police interrogation and at that time he revealed the purpose of entering neighbouring country India.

Police during the interrogation found only 100 Bangladeshi Takas in his possession and nothing illegal was found.

On Friday 15 April, Eman was presented before the court for a hearing after he was kept for two days in the local police station.

The court announced 15 days of judicial custody for the arrested Bangladeshi teen as informed by SDPO (Deputy Superintendent of Police) Banoj Biplab Das.

Meanwhile, no member of Eman's family from Bangladesh has contacted him or tried to find him.

It is informed by police sources that Eman will be presented in front of the court after a thorough investigation.
