Agartala: The Kanchanpur sub-divisional administration has identified 39 of the 40 Reang refugees who fled from a corona quarantine centre and was hiding in the Naisinghpara refugee camp. The administration has filed a case against all of them; however one is still hiding in the camp.

A group of refugees raided the temporary quarantine centre at Sarbajoy Reang Memorial Community Hall on April 16 and took all of them out of the centre breaking the lock of the main gate. Since then they were hiding in the Naisinghpara camp.

It is learnt that some refugee leaders were preventing the persons from returning into the quarantine centre. However, District Magistrate Ravel Hemant Kumar along with SP Bhanupada Chakraborty and SDM Chandni Chandran visited the camp, talked to the leaders and brought them back to the quarantine centre.

The 40 persons had crossed over to Tripura from Mizoram through a jungle road violating the lockdown restriction. The administration took them to the quarantine centre as soon as the matter came to notice on April 14.
