Central Government Sanctions Rs 350 Crore For Bru Repatriation

Agartala: With an eye to begin repatriation of the Bru refugees sheltered in six camps in Kanchanpur and Panisagar sub-division of North Tripura district from October 1, the Central Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 350 crore.

This was informed during a four corner meeting attended by representatives of the government of Mizoram and Tripura, Representatives of refugees sheltered in camps and presided over by AP Maheswari, Special Secretary of the Home Department (Internal Security).

Lalbiakzama, Secretary Home to the Government of Mizoram, who was present in the meeting, told reporters that the Rs 350 crore will cover transportation, rehabilitation packages including Rs 5,000 per month for each families rehabilitated in Mizoram and two years free ration.

The Mizoram government has already completed the identification of 4,447 refugee families who are to be repatriated.
