Agartala: With the relaxation in lockdown restrictions, the life in different areas of Tripura seems to be limping back to normalcy as workers in all the industrial estates reported to their respective factories and construction work also started in different parts of the State.
As per the relaxation criteria advised by the Government of India, about 53 industries in Bodhjungnagar, RK Nagar, Dukli and Badarghat area started production maintaining social distancing and other hygienic measures. At the same time, construction of water supply treatment plants at Usha Baazar and Panchmukh have also started using the migrant laborers available in the city.
Due to starting of industrial and urban development works, the much-needed relief is granted to entrepreneurs, contractors as well as employees who were waiting for more than 3 weeks.
Sources in the Industries department indicated that other industries in rural areas have also started their operations as per labour and raw material available.
It may be noted that the tea estates and brick kilns were allowed to operate from last week itself where more than 35,000 labourers are engaged.
With the permission to start MGNREGA works in rural areas and TUEP works in urban areas, the major issues of daily wagers will be addressed in a phased manner amidst the lockdown measures.
