Defence Minister Rajanth Singh Takes Part in Tripura Election Rally

AGARTALA: The Union Defence Minister of India campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the poll-bound state of Tripura on Wednesday.

Rajnath Singh took part in a significant election rally in the Barjala region of the western part of Tripura. Taking to the huge crowds, the Defence Minister of India took a dig at the Communist Party of India (Marxist) which had been in power for a very long duration in the state. He also blamed the party and its two-decade-long rule in the state for the existing conditions of fear, hunger and corruption in the state.

He went on to add that the state has seen much development under the Bharatiya Janata Party Government in the state. The new government has turned around the situation in the state towards an environment of development.

"You voted for us and the BJP changed Tripura. Give us another five years and we shall make it number one state," Rajnath Singh announced from a Bharatiya Janata Party rally in Barjala ahead of the February 16 assembly polls.

He went on to add that, "Tripura got railway connectivity...a highway is being built to connect the state with the ASEAN to make the state a gateway for the international trade," under the BJP government in the state while speaking about the improved communication routes across the state including road, airways and railways.

The Defence Minister mentioned that the party is not doing any favours to the state by bringing in development. "You gave us responsibility five years ago. It is our duty," he mentioned.

He also mentioned that both the Communist Party of India and the Congress had formed the government in the past and both came together to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said "we do not know how long the alliance will last. In Tripura, one party is flute with multiple holes and another party is sitar with broken strings that cannot produce sounds, forget about melody."
