GUWAHATI: Jishnu Dev Varma, Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura test positive for COVID-19 on April 8.

In a tweet, Varma wrote, "Today I have tested positive for covid19 and have taken home quarantine. Let's all keep safe and be safe."

It is to be mention here that earlier on April 7, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb test positive for the novel coronavirus.

In a tweet the Tripura CM wrote, "I have been tested positive for Covid-19. I have isolated myself at home as per the advice of doctors. I request everyone to please follow all the covid appropriate behaviour and stay safe."

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh wrote "Wish you all the comfort and care during the isolation period. Prayer to the Almighty for a speedy recovery. Get well soon, my dear friend."

The Tripura government has issued fresh guidelines to prevent the further spread of the virus. As per the news guidelines, using face masks has been made compulsory in all government offices and any violation will attract a fine of Rs 200 for the first time and Rs 400 for the second time.

Social distancing in offices and public transport should be maintained, the notification issued by the Chief Secretary stated.

As per a government notification, Mask Enforcement Day would be observed every Saturday and an adequate number of enforcement teams would be formed to visit crowded places like markets, shopping malls etc. and make the people aware and impose penalties wherever necessary as per the provisions of The Tripura Epidemic Disease COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.

Besides, all employees who are at higher risk like older employees, pregnant employees and employees who have underlying medical conditions, have been asked to take extra precautions.
