Agartala: After a bout of high drama over the resignation of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Pradyot Bikram Kishor Debbarman, the Congress seems to be in hurry over selecting his successor which will reach its peak when AICC general secretary in-charge of the State Luizinho Faleiro visits the State on October 18. Bhupen Bora, secretary in-charge will accompany Falerio .

The visit has become significant as Faleiro, after being severely criticized by Pradyot, was removed from the in-charge of Tripura post but was restored to the position within 24 hours proving that his influence over the high command still remains intact.

Since then there has been an air of uncertainty over who will succeed Pradyot.

Under this circumstances, the party factions are working very cautiously and trying to project loyalty to the party. This was evident when all most all the factional leaders participated in a demonstration against the power duty hike on Friday and also attended a press conference together.

Addressing the press meet here at Congress Bhavan, senior leader and chairman of ad-hoc committee of Tripura Pradesh Congress, Pijush Kanti Biswas said that AICC president Sonia Gandhi had a detailed discussion with top AICC leaders and in-charges of NE States to strengthen the organizational activities of the party in Tripura before the ADC elections in the first part of next year.

It is learnt that the main task before Faleiro will be to recommend one name before the party president Sonia Gandhi for the next PCC president.
