Manik Saha Blames CPIM for Election Violence in Tripura

AGARTALA: The chief minister of Tripura in the last Bharatiya Janata Party government Manik Saha said that the Indian National Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) tried to instigate the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party in a bid to create problems during the hours of polling in his state. Voting had taken place in the state of Tripura on Thursday for the 60-member state assembly.

The election day was mostly peaceful this year in the state of Tripura with reports of sporadic violence coming from some locations of the state

Manik Saha had mentioned that his government had created a flow of change and peace in the state and that was clearly visible in this election. He mentioned that the new players in this election, the TIPRA Motha have also been following the footsteps of the Congress and the CPIM in the state in terms of the political atmosphere.

“In the history of Tripura, this was the first election that was held without any violence and rigging. It was a peaceful election. In the last 35 years of CPIM and Congress rule they used scientific rigging to increase the voting turnout. Without rigging the election held peacefully except for some stray incidents”, said the doctor-turned-politician Manik Saha.

According to the BJP leader, the public of the state wants peace and safety while the CPIM and the Congress were trying to disrupt the peaceful polling process. He also reiterated his confidence in a comfortable win in the upcoming elections with the domination of even more seats than in the previous elections.

He went on to add that the coalition between Congress and CPIM has in fact helped the BJP in the election and that the regional TIPRA Motha will not hinder the Bharatiya Janata Party’s win in any way. The previous chief minister also said that a large number of children from the region go outside for studies, and that is the main reason for the comparatively lower turnout of the voters in his constituency.
