Mob In Tripura Attacks Four Saints From Uttar Pradesh

Agartala: On Suspicion of an untoward happening, people in Tripura's Khowai district attacked four saints on Saturday.

Reportedly, the four saints had come from Uttar Pradesh (UP) to Shantinagar of Teliamura sub-division and assembled at an isolate place, where they had a conversation with a minor girl.

The girl, however, started screaming following which locals of the said area gathered and thinking them as kidnappers, they started beating them up.

As the matter was brought up to the police, they immediately rushed to the spot and took them to the police stations.

The four saints were identified as Jitendra Gosmami (31), Bhojraj (72), Dinesh (21), Tinku Gosmami (32). The driver of the vehicle is Dharmabir Singh (38).

Later, after the intial probe, the police officials asked them to leave and go to their respective destination.

After the incident, leaders of the All India Mili Council, Tripura state committee has asked the state government to frame a strong law against such attacks and lynching activities in the state.
