AGARTALA: Today was the last day of campaigning for the upcoming elections in the northeastern state of Tripura and all the parties carried out their campaigning till the very end.

The Prime minister of India, Narendra Modi as well as the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma were in Tripura today to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The prime minister of India took part in a major political rally in the capital city of Agartala on Monday. While addressing the people of the state, he said that lawlessness was rampant in the state during the Communist Party’s government. It was the Bharatiya Janata Party which brought in peace and development to the state he said while expressing confidence that the people will bring them back to power.

He also spoke about making Agartala an important point for international trade and the benefits that the people will receive as promised in the Sankalp Patra after coming to power once again. He also met with select leaders of the local tribal communities for an interactive session ahead of the upcoming polls in the state. Dr Manik Saha also accompanied him to this meeting.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also took part in multiple election rallies in Tripura on Monday. He addressed a gathering in Uttar Maharani under the Matarbari LAC to campaign for Abhishek Deb Roy and Kakraban for Jitendra Majumder.

Alongside these election campaigns, a clash broke out between the supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress near Radhanagar's Radha Madhav temple in Agartala. A campaign vehicle of the Congress party along with an autorickshaw and several two-wheelers were vandalized. While the BJP party alleged that their party office was vandalized. A large police force was deployed in the region.
