AGARTALA: In
yet another shocking incident, a newborn baby girl was rescued by the local
villagers after she was found abandoned in a forest near Baramura hills on
Saturday.
According to reports the incident occurred in Baramura hills of Teliamura sub-division under Khowai district of the state and was reported at around 10:30 AM.
Police sources said that an indigenous man living in the hilly areas of Baramura hill heard cry of the new born baby girl in the deep forest when he was on his way to home.
He suddenly stopped and found a newborn baby girl lying on the forest.
He ran to rescue the little girl lying in the forest with the help of other locals and other passers-by. After the incident reported to police a large police force led by Sub-Inspector Pritam Dutta and Sub-Inspector Subhankar Debbarma rushed to the spot and rescued the newborn girl from the jungle and brought her to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital under Khowai district.
The on-duty doctor of Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital after examining her physical condition said that the baby is completely healthy and was finally handed over to the child line by the joint initiative of Teliamura police administration.
Earlier in Assam a woman along with her three-year-old infant son allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a pond. The incident took place in the Bajali district of Assam. The deceased woman, identified as Malabika Deka (30), reportedly committed suicide following an altercation with her husband over some family issues. As per reports, the husband is a constable, ITBP posted in Uttarakhand. Later, after hearing the incident SDRF recovered the mother-son duo from the pond, located at Naginipar area under Sarupeta Police Out Post in the district.
Meanwhile, the family members of the woman have lodged an FIR against the husband.
