AGARTALA:

A youngster detained for drug trafficking escaped from police custody in Tripura, sprinkling dust in their eyes.

Faruk Ahmed (18) fled through the bathroom window.

The event occurred on the premises of the Kadamtala police station in Tripura's North district.

Krishnadhan Sarkar, the officer in charge of the Kadamtala police station, stated that an alert has been issued.

He claims to be in continuous contact with the Assam Police.

On June 27, the North District Intelligence Branch and the Kadamtala Police discovered 4,400 Yaba pills in 22 packets from the Baragol area of Maheshpur Road.

During a joint operation on June 27, the North Tripura district intelligence branch and Kadamtala police uncovered a total of 4,400 Yaba pills in 22 packages from the Baragol area of Maheshpur Road, with a market worth of about Rs 22 lakh.

The Kadamtala police station filed a complaint against the pair under Section 37 of the NDPS.

Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury (18) and Bishal Shabdakar (19), both occupants of the Kadamtala police station, were nabbed. During the interview, the police arrested another suspect, Nazmul Haque (30), a resident of Baghan village's Ward 3.

The accused were being interrogated at the Kadamtala police station after being brought before the North Tripura district court with a request for three days' detention, which was granted.

Faruk Ahmed, the mastermind of the worldwide drug smuggling ring, however, escaped from the police station on Tuesday.

Krishnadhan Sarkar, the official in charge of the Kadamtala police station, stated that there was no toilet linked to the prison. As a result, the convicts were forced to use the restroom outside.

"Faruk went to the bathroom. Sentry Trikona Sinha found that Faruk did not come out even after spending a lot of time inside. When he opened the door, he saw that the drug smuggler had escaped," the officer in-charge added.

When the authorities investigated the pair, they discovered that they were transporting contraband to Bangladesh.

The police were granted three days' detention of the pair by the Dharmanagar district and sessions court.
