AGARTALA: The Tripura government from today has re-opened all schools from class 6 to 12 and all institutions of higher education for conducting classes in physical mode, albeit with a set of mandatory guidelines as the Covid cases started declining in Tripura.

Earlier on August 21, the Higher Education Director NC Sharma has issued a notification announcing re-opening of all institutions of higher education from August 25.

In notification he instructed all principals and principal in-charges of such institutions would need to arrange for complete and effective sanitization and ensure aggressive COVID-19 appropriate behavior among students, faculty members, staff, and visitors. Faculties were instructed to arrange for extra tutorial classes for students considering the loss of ongoing academic session due to the COVID pandemic. As per the guidelines, any convenient mode of teaching was allowed by sparing extra time and holidays

The higher education official also directed to ensure social distancing in seating arrangement of students in the classrooms.

"If sufficient spaces or teachers are not available the colleges are allowed to adopt measures such as staggering of attendance by conducting classes on alternate days or having different time schedules for different batches or any other method found appropriate to tackle the existing situation", the notification said.

However, college hostels would be, reopened from September 01, maintaining all guidelines issued by the state government from time to time, the notification read.

The director of elementary and secondary education Chandni Chandran said that the physical classes in the state for all students from class 6 to 12 has already started from today.

However, classes from 1 to 5 are still suspended and teachers of these classes would be deployed in Class 6 to 8 for the campaign of 'Nutun Disha'.

As per the notification, the classes in schools would be conducted in two shifts, one from 8 AM to 11 AM and another one from 12 PM to 3 PM.

She also instructed all the district education officers to constitute the inspection team and ensure whether the Covid-19 protocols are being followed in schools.

According to the latest report the positivity rate in the state is 2.26 percent with 01 death and 165 new COVID patients detected in the last 24 hours.
