Agartala: A young and talented cricketer from Tripura, Tanisha Das, has made the state proud by getting selected to be a part of the U-19 Indian women's cricket team. Tanisha will be playing under Team A in the challenger's trophy which will be held from October 25.
With this achievement, Tanisha has become an inspiration for aspiring cricketers in the country who wish to represent the nation by playing the sport. The young cricketer from Tripura had impressed the selector's panel with her performance in the recently held BCCI tournament.
She has also been congratulated by the Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb for her feat and said that she has brought much pride to the state.
Other than the Chief Minister, she was also congratulated by the Tripura Cricket Association president prof Dr Manik Saha and other officials who gifted her a new bat on the occasion and wished her success.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also expressed his happiness and said, "The selection of Tanisha Das in the U-19 squad will motivate the youth to opt for sports as a career in future. The state government has plans to develop the sports sector so that they get a proper platform at the national and international level."
"We had quality players in the TCA who played county cricket and other sports at national levels. I hope that more aspiring athletes will come up and make the state proud," he added.
