AGARTALA: Sushmita Dev, a member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), was attacked in her car in Tripura on Friday. According to accounts, the attack harmed some employees of a private company. The workers were assisting Sushmita Dev's political campaign. Dev, who is in charge of the Trinamool Congress's activities in Tripura, said the attack was carried out by the BJP.
When the incident occurred, Dev was with the staff of the Indian Political Action Committee, or I-PAC, a political public relations and consulting business. For the West Bengal assembly election earlier this year, political strategist Prashant Kishor and I-PAC worked with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party. A blue SUV with the Trinamool Congress' electoral emblem and loudspeakers on the roof damaged by several strikes is shown in one of the videos which are being surfaced online. Dev is touring Tripura to promote her party's "Tripurar Jonno Trinamool," or "Trinamool for Tripura" campaign.
Sushmita Dev (born September 25, 1972) is a West Bengal politician and Rajya Sabha member. She was elected to the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament, in 2014 as a member of the Indian National Congress from Silchar, Assam. She formerly served as the president of the All India Mahila Congress. In 2021, she joined the All India Trinamool Congress.
Dev is the daughter of renowned Bengali Congress politician Santosh Mohan Dev and Bithika Dev, an Assam assembly lawmaker from Silchar. Her father was an Indian Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament.
