Agartala: An artisan allegedly hanged himself to death after being unable to complete a puja pandal that he was assigned on time.
This incident has been reported from the Bishalgarh sub-division which falls under the district of Sepahijala in Tripura.
The deceased, identified as Udyap Nama, had reportedly killed himself after he failed to complete the decoration of the Puja pandal which he was assigned on the day of 'Maha Sashthi'.
However, as per sources, the artisan was unable to complete the assignment as there were shortage of workers.
It has been revealed that that Udyap Nama received a lot of pressure from the club authorities who had been threatening his family members since 'Maha Sashthi'. Later, Nama was nowhere to be found during the Durga Puja festivities.
However, the hanging body of the artisan was recovered from the adjoining forest located near his house in the Murabari area that falls under the Bishalgarh sub-division on Wednesday.
The family members of the artisans alleged that the club authority bore full responsibility of the artisan's death. A case of unnatural death has been registered by the police.
In another case of suicide, a prisoner in Barpeta had allegedly killed himself by hanging from a ventilator on October 13.
It is suspected that the prisoner, identified as Hasubul Hasan, had killed himself due to a heartbreak. However, the family members of Hasan has alleged that he was murdered. Investigations are underway in this case.
