AGARTALA: Senior citizens and people with disabilities would have the option to cast their ballots from home, according to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura on Wednesday. According to the CEO, only senior adults older than 80 could use the vote-from-home option.
He added that sufficient Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) have arrived here in preparation for the state's impending elections, and flag marches and night patrols are also being conducted.
The Tripura CEO emphasised the need for fair and open elections "A sufficient number of the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) have arrived here, and the flag march and night patrol are also being conducted. We favour impartial, peaceful, and open elections. The option to vote from home will be available to seniors over 80 and people with impairments."
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the Tripura Assembly Elections will be held on February 16 and the Nagaland and Meghalaya Assembly Elections will be held on February 27. Additionally, the ECI stated that the results of these assembly elections would be announced on March 2.
Throughout the meantime, the Agartala police have tightened security in the entire city ahead of the State Assembly elections in Tripura.

On Wednesday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence in gaining more assembly seats than previously in the upcoming elections on February 16. He also noted that the BJP has consistently served the interests of the people regardless of elections.
The Chief Minister stated these things to the media: "Regardless of elections, our party is always committed to serving the public. For the approaching elections, we are well ready. We are certain that we will increase the number of Assembly seats we win."
