AGARTALA: In a ceremonial oath-taking event held at the Raj Bhavan in Agartala, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu was officially sworn in as the 20th governor of Tripura. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of the Tripura High Court.
The swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent figures, including Chief Minister Manik Saha, his cabinet members, and Chief Secretary J K Sinha.
Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him by President Droupadi Murmu, Governor Nallu conveyed his commitment to the development of Tripura. He outlined his vision, which emphasizes transparency, empowerment, and accountability in the state's administration. Governor Nallu also extended his willingness to cooperate with the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Telangana, has previously served as a three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He takes over as governor from his predecessor, Satyadev N Arya.
"I thanked President Droupadi Murmu for reposing responsibility as the governor of Tripura. I will do my best to develop the state. I want to bring transparency, empowerment and accountability to the state of Tripura and will cooperate with the state government led by Chief Minister Manik Saha," he told reporters after the oath-taking ceremony.
During the same event, Justices Sabyasachi Datta Purakayastha and Biswajit Palit were also sworn in as judges of the Tripura High Court. This appointment increases the total number of judges in the high court to five, including the Chief Justice.
In an official statement released by the President's Secretariat earlier, significant appointments were made, with Raghubar Das named as the new Governor of Odisha and Indra Sena Reddy Nallu assuming the role of Governor in Tripura. Raghubar Das, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been selected as the 26th governor of Odisha.
He is no stranger to leadership roles, having previously served as the President of the Jharkhand BJP on two separate occasions. The seasoned politician is poised to bring his extensive experience to the gubernatorial office in Odisha.
