AGARTALA: One person has been apprehended by the Tripura Police, while seven others are being detained in connection with an alleged altercation between BJP and CPIM supporters on January 4 in the late evening in the Rajdhan Nagar neighbourhood, Kakraban Police station, and Gomati district.

The Tripura Police stated in a news release that "a political conflict between the BJP and CPIM occurred yesterday in Rajdhan Nagar area under Kakraban Police station, Gomati district. Three stores and a few automobiles were damaged in the fight. Police arrived on the scene right away and stabilized the situation.

Two FIRs have been filed on this subject, according to the press release. It states, "Seven people were detained for questioning and one person has been arrested." The police further denied media claims that this incident involved an attack on the home of important political figures and had a community undertone.

"It is made clear that these reports are untrue and that they are not supported by facts. The necessary police deployment has been completed. The alert watch is being kept, and the situation is under control, it was said.

The ancestral home of Biplab Kumar Deb, a former chief minister of Tripura, reportedly came under attack on January 3, 2023, at Jamjuri in the Udaipur subdivision of the Gomati District, according to reports. This attack was allegedly carried out by criminals who were supported by the CPIM. According to sources, the attack included setting fire to Deb's ancestral home. But no official source has backed up the reports.

The attack, which occurred the day before yearly rites in honour of Deb's late father Hirudhan Deb, was allegedly carried out by criminals with communist support. According to the BJP, a puja would be performed on this occasion in the presence of both local and foreign saints.
