AGARTALA: The Tripura Pradesh Congress has appealed to the State government to shut down all malls, business establishments and minimizes the public transports at the earliest. The party has also postponed all political activities across the State.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhavan here on Saturday noon, PCC president Pijush Kanti Biswas alleged that despite a declaration of a pandemic by WHO, the State government failed to maintain the minimum standard of precaution to prevent possible danger.
He alleged that though the majority of the States have prepared well to contain the spread of coronavirus, the Tripura government has been taking a careless and negligence attitude. He added that though the State government had closed down a school, colleges and other educational institutions, but it did not take any steps to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus in crowded public places like the malls, business establishments, and motor stands, where thousands of people gather every day.
He appealed to the people of the State to respond with the standard restrictions and suggestions of the experts to contain the spread of coronavirus and also urged the people to stay in homes and maintain isolation from any suspected persons. He also demanded a supply of free ration and other essential commodities to the poor section of the people especially the day laborers who will lose a job due to restrictions like the ‘Janata Curfew’.
