Tripura: Students Block Road in Protest of Transfer of Teacher

CHURAIBARI: The students of a school decided to block Kadamtala-Tarakpur Road in protest against a teacher’s transfer on Tuesday. Even the police were unable to control the protesting students and clear the road.

It is to be noted that the students of class six to twelve of Kalangangerpar Higher Secondary School under Kadamtala Block of North Tripura came to know that their history teacher, Kamal Hussain has been transferred to a different school at around 11 AM on Tuesday morning. This triggered anger among the students and they blocked the Kadamtala-Tarakpur Road.

One of their key demands is that the school does not have a canteen for mid-day meals, also there are not enough desk benches for seating and a sports field etc. But even though the movement went on for an indefinite period, no official of the education department went to the place of the blockade.

Apart from their other demands, they also demanded that history teacher Kamal Hussain should be retained in the school. They threatened to continue the protest indefinitely if their demands are not met. They said that there are only 13 teachers left in their school, among them Kamal Hussain is a very good teacher of his subject, so he will not be allowed to be dismissed from the school.

Meanwhile, Kadamtala police rushed to the spot and failed to appease the protesting students.

A few days back a bizarre incident, a man threw out his second wife to get married for the third time and she filed a case against the man regarding the inhumane treatment that she faced. The incident was reported from Churaibari in Tripura. The victim of the incident, Sahena Begum mentioned that her husband Bilal Uddin wished to marry again despite being socially married twice. When she protested, Bilal Uddin reportedly kept her tied to the legs of a bed and later threw her out of the house at night. She also alleged that even after being married, her husband was involved in several illegal relationships and now he wants to marry a woman related to a mullah in Assam.
