AGARTALA: Even as Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the regional political parties and various organizations that met him in Delhi on November 29 that the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) won’t harm anyone, leaders of regional parties and indigenous organizations are continuing their agitation demanding its withdrawal.

The Tribal Students’ Federation (TSF) and other organizations on Saturday organized a torchlight rally at Khumulung, the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTADC) protesting against the proposed bill.

Apart from the TSF, others who participated in the procession included IPFT (Tipraha faction), NASO and other social organizations. TSF general secretary Sunil Debbarma told reporters that the Union Home Minister has not given any signal about withdrawal of the bill. Hence they are continuing the agitation.

Hundreds of people from different parts of the State participated in the procession that moved through various streets of Khumulung. They also raised slogans demanding immediate withdrawal of the bill.
