Tripura Turing Into an International Human Trafficking and Narcotics Pedling Corridor

AGARTALA: With the large amounts of narcotic substances being captured every day in the state, it is being speculated that parts of Tripura are now turning into an international corridor for narcotics as well as human trafficking.

In a recent incident, an attempt at suspected human trafficking was foiled by the security forces. Five young women and a suspected trafficker were arrested at the Dharma Nagar Railway Station on their way to a separate destination. They were captured at around 3 PM on Monday as they failed to show any valid Indian documents. On questioning further, it was revealed that the arrested youth were being smuggled from Bangladesh into India. They were on their way to Delhi in India.

Meanwhile, it was mentioned that the Unakoti and North Tripura districts of the state are slowly becoming a corridor for the trade of illegal materials including narcotics and cattle. It remains to see if the state government and the police will initiate a proper investigation into the matter.
