Two BSF Jawans Killed In Scuffle, One Injured In Tripura
Agartala: At least two BSF personnel were killed and one injured following a scuffle between them on Thursday.
The incident took place at Silachari bordering area under Tripura's Gomati district.
According to reports, A BSF senior official in a condition of anonymity said, Head Constable Sabbir Singh and Constable Pratap Singh of BSF's 20 Battalion working at Khagrachhari BOP under Shilachhari Police Station in Gomati district were patrolling at the Indo-Bangla border at around 5.15 pm on Thursday. They got into an argument while patrolling the border. Following this, Constable Pratap Singh reportedly shot dead Head Constable Sabbir Singh with his service rifle. Returning to the camp in a state of frenzy, he started firing randomly following which camp in-charge identified as sub-inspector Ram Kumar was shot in the leg. Seeing the dire situation, the camp sentry fired two rounds of bullets at Pratap Singh to repel him. He died on the spot.
Soon after the incident, the injured sub-inspector Ram Kumar was rushed to GB Pant hospital as his condition was critical.
The police of Shilachhari police station rushed to the spot after receiving the news. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital for autopsy.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, Gomati district SP and BSF IG rushed to the spot. Police have launched an investigation.
Earlier in Assam, a gun battle between BSF personnel and alleged cattle smugglers took place at Assam's South Salmara district in which one smuggler died and a BSF personnel sustained serious injuries. The incident took place along with Indio-Bangladesh international border. The incident took place when alleged cattle smugglers were purportedly trying to cross the international border with cattle.
