New Delhi: Amid the rising oil prices, the government is constantly considering other fuel options through which vehicles can be run on roads. The Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari himself is constantly emphasizing Electronic Vehicles, CNG, PNG, and Hydrogen.

Today, Nitin Gadkari came to parliament by using a hydrogen car and he said that he want hydrogen to be used more and more.

The hydrogen car is a completely different car on its own and it can cover a distance of 600 km when the tank is full. The cost per kilometer is just Rs 2. In addition to this, it takes only 5 minutes to fill the hydrogen fuel in the car.

Hydrogen Is Made From Water

Earlier, speaking further in the parliament, Gadkari had said that now the day is not far when we will run the car with green hydrogen which is made from water.

''Now soon we will move towards this option. It can be made using sewage water. I sell the sewage water of my parliamentary constituency to the Maharashtra government, from which we get a royalty of Rs 325 crore every year. Using this water we can make green hydrogen,'' he added.

What is Green Hydrogen?

Hydrogen is produced when electricity is passed through water. This hydrogen is used to power many things. If the electricity used to make hydrogen comes from a renewable source, that is, from a source that does not cause pollution in the production of electricity, then the hydrogen thus formed is called green hydrogen.

Advantages And Disadvantages of Hydrogen Car

For example, let's consider windmills and solar power which generate energy without pollution, but it is not useful in every industry. Even today coal is needed in industries like steel and cement. At the same time, liquid fuel is being needed for airlines and water ships. All these won't be running with only solar energy or windmills.

In such a situation, there is a need for hydrogen, which can be used for long distances in airlines and ships including in the steel-cement industry. It can be stored and then used as per the requirement. There are many benefits of green hydrogen, but here the question arises whether it also has some risks or not?

Even though green hydrogen has many advantages, its disadvantages are also not less. When it comes to safety, hydrogen is highly flammable. That is, if the diesel-petrol tank leaks, it will spread on the ground, but a small spark or leak in the hydrogen tank can have dire consequences.
