9 Arrested for Abduction of 3 ONGC Employees in Sibsagar
The police in Assam's Sivasagar district arrested nine people on Thursday in connection with the abduction of three employees of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
Search operations are underway in neighbouring Nagaland where the abducted persons are believed to have been kept.
Special DGP of Assam police, GP Singh, who is in charge of the investigation visited Sivasagar on Thursday to inspect the scene and understand the process of the investigation.
Sivasagar police have arrested Prashanta Dutta, Rajen Chutia, Bangshi Borgohain, Pulin Borgohain, Jiten Gogoi, Shrimanta Likson, Bimol Likson, Mintu Phukan, and Kiran Phukan under IPC section 491.
The three employees were abducted from a workover rig site inside the Lakwa tea estate in the early hours of Wednesday. The abducted employees are Ritul Saikia, Mohini Mohan Gogoi (both junior engineer assistants), and Alakesh Saikia (junior technician) all of them belong to Assam.
