Watch: ILP checking at border areas of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh raises uproar among public

Following the ILP checking drive in the border areas of Assam Arunachal Pradesh border, the All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) conducted an Inner Line Permit (ILP) checking drive along with the district administration and the police department on Monday.

As per media reports, several people of Assamese people were detained for not possessing Inner Line Permit and and later dropped off at the Sulengi Check Gate and Banderdewa Check Gate respectively.

Latest information states that sudden drive in the border areas of Gohpur, Bandarkhuwa had led to an uproar among the people of Assam.

Speaking to media, one of local people from the border areas alleged that there are many of Assamese people who are being physically and mentally tortured by the ANSU in the name of ILP since past few weeks.

Reportedly, ILP checking's were conducted at 13 locations in Itanagar and Naharlagun of Arunachal Pradesh.

On the other hand, ANSU president told the media that the defaulters were first taken to the police station, and were sent back to their native places after thorough verification.

"We made sure that the defaulters were sent back to their respective places," Takam said.

They further assured that this drive is not for individual benefit but for the greater interest of the state.
