Pollution Testing Unit allegedly overcharging then fixed amount in Guwahati

At a time when the Guwahatians are busy in getting their pollution certificates ready at various corners in the city soon after the introduction of amended Motors Vehicle Act, there are reports surfacing the media that certain pollution testing centres in the city are allegedly overcharging from the fixed amount Rs 85.

As per a report, a pollution testing unit in Bamunimaidan allegedly charged Rs 500 from a two wheeler owner, thus, leading to a chaotic situation in the area on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Sentinel News, a DTO official informed that a complaint was reported on the same day of the incident; hence, District Transport Office has directed Motor Vehicle Inspector to investigate the matter.
