Hima Das bags the second Gold within a week and with this, the Indian star athlete has proved it once again that she is here to rule the women’s 200m. Hima won her second international gold in women’s 200m of the year at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland.
It was just on last Tuesday, July 4, when Hima had clinched the first gold of the year at Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland and now, she has the second gold medal in her kitty that she clinched in a timing of 23.97 seconds. However, another Indian contestant in the 200m women’s race V.K. Vismaya bagged the silver in 24.06 seconds.
The Gold that Hima won on Tuesday was secured at timing of 23.65s and with her particularly best timings on the track, Hima certainly is reigning the world junior championships. However, the national record holder in 400m is yet to receive a medal in the 400m race this year.
Assam girl Hima had been on rest for quite some time due to her back injury. Although this interval from sports had made some criticize the athlete and question her form for the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, she has shut them all with her outstanding performances with two back to back Gold medals.
However, Hima’s personal best record of completing the 200 m race is 23.10s, which she clocked last year.
In Men’s 200m race Indian athlete and national record holder Muhammed Anas won the gold with a time of 21.18 seconds.
Other Indian athletes, M P Jabir won the gold in men’s 400m hurdles in 50.21 seconds and Jithin Paul remained third with 52.26 secs.
The women’s 400m race in the event was mostly swept by Indian athletes as P Saritaben (52.77 secs), Sonia Baishya (53.73 secs) and R Vithya (53.73 secs) performed particularly well.
