Alvarez hat-trick fires River Plate to win over San Lorenzo

BUENOS AIRES: Julian Alvarez scored a hat-trick as leaders River Plate came from behind to clinch a 3-1 home win over San Lorenzo in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday. Nicolas Fernandes put the visitors ahead by pouncing on a loose ball after a long throw-in and angling a low finish into the bottom right corner. River equalized on the half-hour mark when Alvarez latched onto Santiago Simon's pass and thumped a first-time effort past goalkeeper Sebastian Torrico from outside the 18-yard box. Alvarez made it 2-1 in the 65th minute, capitalizing on a fortuitous rebound to fire home from close range.
