HANGZHOU: In a remarkable display of skill and determination, India's Jyothi Surekha Vennam secured the gold medal in women's compound archery at the 19th Asian Games, bringing India closer to its goal of achieving 100 medals at the prestigious event. Vennam's victory came after a thrilling match against South Korea's Chaewon So, with a final score of 149-145.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) celebrated Vennam's achievement on their official social media handle, hailing her as the "Compound Archer No. 1." This win marked Jyothi's third gold medal at the Asian Games, with previous victories in archery compound women's team and mixed team compound archery events.

Notably, Aditi Gopichand, another rising star in Indian archery, also shone at the event, securing a silver medal in the women's compound archery category. Aditi defeated Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly with a score of 146-140 in a closely contested match.

The Indian archery team, consisting of Jyothi Surekha, Aditi Gopichand, and Parneet, demonstrated their collective strength by clinching the gold medal in the archery compound women's team event. In a nail-biting contest, they triumphed over the team from Chinese Taipei, comprised of Yi-Hsuan Chen, I-Jou Huang, and Lu-Yun Wang, with a razor-thin margin of 230-229.

The success story didn't end there. Jyothi Surekha Vennam, alongside her teammate Pravin Ojas Deotale, continued to shine as they secured yet another gold medal in the mixed team compound archery event. In a thrilling final, they prevailed over South Korea's Chaewon So and Jaehoon Joo, solidifying their status as archery champions at the Hangzhou Games.

These outstanding achievements by India's archery stars not only added precious medals to the country's tally at the Asian Games but also showcased the immense talent and dedication of the athletes.
