GUWAHATI: Assam won three bronze medals and ensured another four in the 37th National Games in Goa today.

Zamir Hussain won a bronze medal in the weightlifting event. The weightlifter, participated in the 102kg category, lifted 145kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and Jerk. It was the second medal for Assam in the weightlifting event.

Menwhile Debika Boro and Tilak Kutum ended their campaign in the pencak silat with bronze medals as both the players lost their semi final matches to their respective opponents today.

However four more players entered into the semi final in women category of the same discipline and also ensured medals for Assam. The four semi finalists were Khem Kumari, Prerona Hazarika, Luky Das and Jeuti Boro. Khem Kumari, participated in 65-70kg, defeated Purnima of Maharashtra. Prerona (55-60kg) won against Neha of Haryana by 36-6. In another quarter final Luky Das (60-65kg) beat Sarujabala of Manipur in 39-10. Jeuti took part in the 75-80kg category and won her quarter final tie 36-10.
