GUWAHATI: Keeping it in mind the rising trend of COVID-19 pandemic Assam Football Association has advised all its affiliated units to take proper precautionary measures before taking any decision to start soccer activities.
State government recently eased the restriction and allowed to start sports activities from the third week of September with limited crowed. A couple of district associations are interested to begin the training and competition.
The secretary of the Assam Football Association Hemendra Nath Brahma talking to The Sentinel said that recently an online meeting was held with the officials of the different district sports association where some districts showed interest to start the football activities including competition. "We advised them to arrange full precautionary measures and follow the government guidelines in toto before go ahead with their plans."
He added: "Assam Football Association also informed the district units that if they want to organize competition they can do it own. The parent body will not issue any permission for it."
When asked whether All India football Federation has sent any guideline to the State Association regarding the start of soccer activities Brahma said, "We are on regular touch with them. However till date we have not received any such guidelines from the federation."
