Assam Sepaktakraw Team Performs Well in National Games 2023
GUWAHATI: The 37th edition of the National Games is going on in the West Indian state of Goa and Assam is doing well in the same. In the latest development, the Sepaktakraw team from the state has been able to bring laurels to the state.
Dr Bishnu Ram Nunisa who is the vice president of the Assam Olympics Association, congratulated the team on the occasion. Sharing pictures of the team, she shared, “The Assam SepakTakraw team were awarded their medals for their win in the 37th National Games 2023 in the august presence of Honourable Sports Minister of Goa Shri Govind Gavde, Former Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Goa Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar and other dignitaries at Fatorda, Goa on 3.12.23. My heartiest congratulations to the team and my best wishes to them”.
Meanwhile, Assam bagged two more medals in the National Games on Friday and took their medal tally to 30 (5-8-17) on Friday. With these two medals Assam better their performance than the last edition of the Games in Gujarat where they collected 28 medals. Assam won both the medals on Friday in Wushu and those were collected by Sunita Limbu and Sunil Chinte. Sunita participated in the women’s 65kg and Sunil in the men’s 75 kg.
Meanwhile, three more medals were confirmed today as the Assam team entered into the semi-finals in three events of lawn bowls-women singles, women's fours and men’s triple. Nayanmoni Saikia, who earlier won medals in three previous editions of the Games, today entered into the Women’s singles semi-final. Tania Choudhury, Bangita Hazarika, Ananys Saikia and Abinita Kakoti qualified in the semi-finals in the Women’s Four. On the other hand, Biswajit Khound, Dipankar Sarma and Putul Sonowal were the three members of the Assam team which stormed into the semi-finals in the Men’s triple.
