GUWAHATI: Promising shooter from Assam Hriday Hazarika entered into the final in the 10 m Air Rifle at the 36th National Games at Ahmedabad today. The shooter displayed a good performance on Thursday to book a berth in the final.

Moreover, West Bengal women's Lawn Balls team registered a stunning 12-11 victory over Assam.

The Assam Fours team, led by Birmingham Commonwealth Games participant Tania Choudhary, and comprising Bangita Hazarika, Adinita Kakoty and Ananya Saikia, were trailing 1-5 after the first two ends but clawed back to level 7-7. Bengal held their nerves to regain a slender 11-10 lead in the penultimate 11th end and kept their noses ahead at the finish.

Meanwhile Assam will start their campaign in archery, weight lifting and Athletes event tomorrow. Athletics is one of the events where Assam is expecting multiple medals as two top performers of the country Hima Das and Amlan Borgohain will represent Assam in the Games. Both are capable of winning gold medals in short distance races. In the weightlifting, promising weightlifter Popy Hazarika will lead the State team in the competition. On the other hand, an eight member archery team from Assam will be seen in action tomorrow. Archery is another game where Assam is expecting multiple medals.
