Kolkata: Spanish defender Agustin Garcia Iniguez (more popularly known as Agus) was on Friday roped in by ATK for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season. He will be joining Anas Edathodika to fortify the defense of the team. Agus joined ATK from Cypriot club Nea Salamina.

“I am very happy about signing Agus to the team. He is a versatile player and he has a lot to bring to the table. Looking forward to creating a defense strategy with his strengths in mind,” ATK head coach Antonio Habas said. “I am eager to start playing for ATK. I will do my best to make sure they win this season,” Agus said.

Agus appeared in seven La Liga games representing Albacete Balompie before joining the Real Madrid B-team for the 2004-05 season, where he returned for the 2008-09 campaign.

In 2010, Agus signed for three years with Córdoba CF. He continued competing in his country’s division two, representing AD Alcorcon, RCD Mallorca, and Albacete. In 2016, Agus signed with Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer. In 2017, he moved to the Danish 1st Division and joined Esbjerg fB on a two-year deal, where he also played as a striker. IANS
