Assam: Orijit Chaliha, Isharani Baruah win singles titles in Badminton Championship

Guwahati: Orijit Chaliha and Isharani Baruah won men's and women's singles titles in the All Assam Inter District Badminton Championship which concluded at the Kanaklata Indoor stadium here today. 3rd seeded Orijit from Dibrugarh defeated Tanmoy Bikash Boruah (Nazira) 17-21 21- 14 21-14 to clinch the men's singles title. In the women's singles top seeded Isharani Baruah (Dibrugarh) beat local girl Disha Sarma 21-7 21-8 in the final.

The most promising player of the tournament was awarded to Shantipriya Hazarika in girls category and Monarch Borgohain in boys category. Both received trophies along with a cash award of Rs.10,000 each. The most promising player of the year award was received by Aaradhya Buragohain of Sivasagar. She collected a trophy and cash award of Rs 5,000.
