On Sunday 19 December the event for 68th BBC Sports Personality of The Year was held at Salford's Media City, UK where 19 years old tennis player Emma Raducana from Toronto, Canada crowned the winner.

She became the BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2021 after voting by the public during an on-air program broadcast on BBC One.

The ceremony of 68th BBC Sports Personality of The Year was live broadcast on the channel of BBC One. The Award was presented in the television show by presenters Gabby Logan, Gary Lineker, Alex Scott and Clare Balding. Every year the award is presented and hosted by BBC for selection of the brightest and best sportsperson who keeps ranging in all the fields associated with sports.

Emma Raducana became the first British woman to win the prestigious sports award after Virginia Wade won the tennis tournament, Wimbledon in the year 1977. She is the youngest winner of the title since the won of Michael Owen in 1998 and she also became the first woman to be crowned with a grand slam since the win in 2006 by Zara Tindall.

The Award show took place with a total of six nominees including Emma Raducana among which one is chosen by following the voting process by the general public. The nominees were earlier announced on Monday 13 December 2021 and after 6 days the winner is finally announced.

Other nominees for the award of BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2021 were Tyson Fury (boxer), Dame Sarah Stoney (Paralympics athlete) and Raheem Sterling (footballer). Following their achievements in Olympics, swimmer Adam Peaty finished in third and diver Tom Daley (gold and bronze medalist in Tokyo Olympics 2020) finished in second.

Emma Raducana expressed her happiness on getting nominated among such great sports personalities as she said it is honour for her to be just amongst these nominees and winning the title is pretty amazing.

On Sunday night other sports awards were also presented along with BBC Sports Personality of The Year such as World Sport Star of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Unsung Hero, Team and Coach of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.

Skateboarded Sky Brown won the Young Sports Personality of the Year 2021, Gareth Southgate won the Award of Coach of the year, Irish Jockey Rachael Blackmore was named the World Sport Star of the Year, Simone Biles the American gymnast is awarded Lifetime achievement and Sam Barlow won the Unsung Hero Award.
