GUWAHATI: Mohit Kumar Soni from Bihar clinched the 4th CPPA Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament title which concluded at Duliajan today. Iftikar Alom Mazumdar from Assam and Kishan Kumar from Bihar bagged second and third places respectively.

The championship was organized by the Chess Players' Parents Association where 118 players from various parts of the country and also one from abroad took part. While winner Mohit Kumar Soni received cash award of Rs 33,000, the first and second runners up received cash award of Rs 22,000 and Rs 16,000 respectively.

First three trophies along with cash prizes were awarded by the President of the Organizing Committee and Executive Director (Oil India Limited) S P Deka.
