New Delhi: British boxer Amir Khan has claimed that he was robbed at gunpoint by two unidentified men in London on Monday.

As per reports, the 2004 Olympic medalist was with his wife Faryal Makhdoom when he was confronted by two men in Leyton, East London, who took away his watch while leaving the couple unharmed.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Khan said, "Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal, luckily she was few steps behind me. 2 men ran to me, he asked for my watch whist having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we're both safe."

According to a report by the English newspaper The Guardian, police have started investigating the incident.

"Police was called on Monday at 21:15. Two men, along with 30-year-old Parush, allegedly robbed his watch with weapons in hand and fled. There is no news of firing," the report quoted police as saying.

The police have started to search; however, initially, no arrest has been made yet.

The 35-year-old suffered a defeat by Britain's Kell Brook in six rounds in a match played in February. This is the sixth defeat of his professional career. So far he has won 34 matches, out of which he has managed to win by knockout in 21.
