BCCI Bans Boria Majumdar For Two Years For Intimidating Wriddhiman Saha

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday banned senior sports journalist Boria Majumdar for two years for intimidating Wriddhiman Saha.

The BCCI informed all the state units about the ban in an internal letter addressed by interim CEO Hemang Amin.

''The BCCI Committee recommended the following sanctions to the Apex council of BCCI. The Apex Council of BCCI agreed with the recommendations of the BCCI Committee and imposed the following sanctions:

i. 2 (two} year ban on getting any accreditation as a member of the press in any of the cricket matches (domestic and international) in India;

ii. 2 (two) year ban on getting any interview with any registered players in India; and

iii. 2 (two) year ban on access to any of BCCI and members associations owned cricket faculties,'' the letter read.

Saha had alleged that he was intimidated by a journalist for not giving an interview and also disclosed all the details about the incident with the BCCI committee probing the matter in March earlier this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had constituted a three-member committee in February to investigate the case which includes Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal, and Apex Council member Prabhtej Singh Bhatia.

Saha eventually had identified Majumdar as the journalist in question when he came in front of the committee.

Meanwhile, Majumdar accused the cricketer of "doctoring" the screenshots of the WhatsApp messages he had posted on Twitter and later shared with the committee.
